Student Diary in Boston, Aug 18
This evening, we listened to Mr. Hashimoto’s story. His speech was very engaging, and I learned so many new things from him. Since I’m very interested in foreign countries, I asked him what the biggest change was for him after moving to Boston. He said that learning the culture is more important than just learning English. I was surprised to hear that, but I quickly realized that I, too, need to learn about American culture.
I also learned about leadership from him. I used to think that leaders were people who listen to others and summarize their ideas, but he explained that leaders are those who take accountability for their decisions. This was a perspective I had never considered before. I admire him for knowing himself well and enjoying his work. Today was truly a special experience, and I will carry what I learned today into tomorrow.
